Our Lands is built with the same ethic we practice on the trail. We don’t sell your data, we don’t track you across the web, and we don’t build advertising profiles.
We do not collect, store, or transmit your name, email address, location history, browsing activity, device identifiers, or any personal information. The app works without an account, and nothing you do is sent to us.
Our Lands stores all user data locally on your device. This includes your visited sites, bucket list, saved road trips, and vibe-quiz preferences. This on-device data never leaves your device and is not accessible to us or any third party.
Deleting the app permanently removes all this on-device data — like leaving a campsite the way you found it.
If you choose to enable location services, your device’s GPS coordinates are used solely to show nearby federal sites on the map. Your location is processed entirely on your device. We do not store, transmit, or have access to your location data at any time.
Our Lands uses the following third-party services to provide functionality:
Mapbox — map rendering and geocoding. Mapbox may collect anonymized usage data per their privacy policy.
Nominatim / OpenStreetMap — location search. Only your search query is sent.
OSRM — route calculation. Only start/stop/end coordinates are sent for routing.
Wikimedia Commons — site photos. No user data is sent.
Our Lands does not currently use any analytics or tracking tools. If we add analytics in the future, we will update this policy and use only privacy-respecting, cookieless tools.
Our Lands does not knowingly collect any personal information from children under 13. The app has no user accounts, no social features, and collects no personal information.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
